COVID-19 - Crisis Response: Donation of 100 Face Shields to Kuliyapitiya and Kurunegala Hospital Staff


 At this very moment the world is seeing a worst crisis of hospitals losing their capacities to treat Covid-19 patients. At this very moment, Sri Lanka is pondering whether it could slide into a crisis. To avoid such disaster, it is very important to keep the medical crews of all levels healthy and safe in order to avoid staff shortages at crucial times. To help keep the staff of the closely associated hospitals safe, the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka swiftly took actions to fabricate 100 face shields of high quality and durability and to donate them the hospitals on the 09th of April, 2020.

Staff of Polymer Electronics Research Group – Department of Electronics won National Science Foundation Research Award

Prof. K. P. Vidanapathirana and Prof. (Mrs) Kumudu Perera were awarded with  National Science Foundation Research Award -2018.  The awarding ceremony was held on 18th December 2019 at BMICH under the participation of Minister of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation and State Minister of Technology and Innovation .

This award was given to the NSF research grant titled “Conducting Polymer Based Energy Storage Devices”

222  WUSL hosted Idea Audition of HackaDev 2019

The Wayamba University of Sri Lanka (WUSL) supports promotion of innovation culture in Sri Lanka. As the National Youth Social Innovation Challenge-HackaDev 2019  (!/) progresses throughout the country, the Idea Audition of HackaDev 2019 for North Western Province was hosted by the WUSL on 05th August 2019 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Applied Sciences. Contestants from the University and outside auditioned for the HackaDev 2019.   The Units of External Affairs of WUSL coordinated the event at the University with the program organizing partners; United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Sarvodaya.
