Visit of Maris Stella College, Negombo
The Advanced Level students from the Technology stream of the Maris Stella College, Negombo visited the Faculty of Technology with their teachers on 10th of July 2018. They were given an introduction to the Engineering Technology degree programs offered by the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. Further, they visited the laboratories in the fields of construction technology, electrotechnology and nano-sciences technology and enthusiastically attended demonstration of laboratory equipment.
Guest Lecture by Dr. Upaka Rathnayake
Dr. Upaka Rathnayake conducted a guest lecture on the Topic "Who do I want to be?" on 06th July 2018 for the undergraduates of the Faculty of Technology and the Faculty of Applied Sciences on the Invitation of The Head of the Department of Construction Technology.
Dr. Upaka Rathnayake is a researcher in Water Resources Engineering. He completed his B.Sc Engineering in 2006 from University of Peradeniya with 5 academic awards. Then he completed his masters in 2009 from Hokkaido University Japan followed by his PhD in 2013 from University of Strathclyde, Scotland. Dr. Rathnayake has worked in several countries as an academic/researcher including Japan, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Fiji Islands and Australia.
Visit of Tangalle Balika Vidyalaya
The Advanced Level students from the Technology stream of the Tangalle Balika Vidyalaya visited the Faculty of Technology with their teachers on 15th of February 2018. They visited the modern laboratories in the fields of construction technology, electrotechnology and nano-sciences technology. Furthermore, they visited the ongoing constructions of the faculty complex and the engineering workshops equipped with heavy machinery.
Inaugural Ceremony 2017
The Faculty of Technology, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka proudly held the inauguration of Bachelor of Engineering Technology degree programs for the second batch of students on 23rd of November at the main auditorium. Dr. LDRD Perera, The Acting Dean of the faculty welcomed all the distinguished guests, the students and their parents. The inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of Prof. EMP Ekanayake, The Vice-Chancellor of the university as the chief guest. The Heads of the Departments delivered speeches about the four Engineering Technology degree programs. Academics of the Faculties of Technology and Applied Sciences and Directors and Coordinators of the common support units graced the occasion.
