Colours Awards Ceremony - 2017
The most awaited Colours Awards Ceremony 2017 had its flare in the ambitious hearts of athletes of the Wayamba University in the wonderful evening of 08th November at the University Main Auditorium.
The ceremony commenced with the arrival of invitees and guests at around 6.30 p.m.
The chief guest, Prof. E.M.P. Ekanayake, Vice Chancellor of the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka set the tone for this wonderful event and appreciated the talent of the athletes and congratulated the winners and wished a fruitful future for their sports career.
During the ceremony, one hundred and sixty-five sportsmen and women were awarded university colours in nineteen sports disciplines for the excellence shown in the university sports arena in the years of 2015 and 2016.
The cultural performances presented by the University students enriched the ceremony with glamour. The ceremony was proudly organized by the Department of Physical Education in collaboration with the Sports Council of the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka.
Inter University Championship – 2017
The 39th Inter University Championships was organized by Sri Lanka Universities Sports Association (SLUSA) from 06th May to 30th September 2017.
Thirty four sport events were organized at different university premises and the Department of Physical Education of Wayamba University pioneered for organizing Inter University Badminton Men & Women Championships.
It was held on 04th, 05th & 06th August 2017 at Indoor Stadium, Kuliyapitiya.
Overall Achievement: 08th Place among 14 Universities
1st Runner up - Inter University Elle Women Championship
1st Runner up - Inter University Wrestling Championship
1st Runner up – Track & Field - (High Jump – Women)
2nd Runner up - Inter University Baseball Championship
SLUG - 2016
The grand sports fiesta SLUG 2016 was held at Wayamba University of Sri Lanka for 13 days starting from 1st to 13th September.
This grandiose opportunity comprised 22 sports and 35 sports events for the athletes of the Sri Lankan Universities. Our main aim was to build a better hospitality village for all the participants, including, athletes, officials and delegation members and as well as to “Go One Better” in the SLUG Journey.
