Then and Now: IEEE Student Branch of Wayamba University of Sri Lanka

The IEEE student branch of WUSL was started in 2015 November. From then onwards, we have been doing prominent work as a student branch, have engaged in various activities, and have gained a lot of experience and lessons to mold our paths of career and to be successful in life. We were lucky to hold the IEEE Sri Lanka section student / Young Professional and Women in Engineering Congress, the flagship event of the IEEE Sri Lanka Section in 2016 and 2019 on our university premises. This was a huge turnover for us as a student branch. The IEEE student branch of WUSL has expanded with the IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group of WUSL. We, as IEEE members, have organized and participated in physical activities and sessions in the past and now, due to the prevailing situation, we are conducting webinars on awareness programs on IEEE, industrial-related matters for undergraduates and also webinars that’ll be beneficial for society. Also, we are hoping to conduct various programs like technical awareness and soft skills development programs in the future. We are looking forward to continuing our good work in the forthcoming years to assist the future of society.
